Free Thinking, 30 August 2023: our latest newsletter

Our Future of Pensions Communications project continues to whet an appetite for disruption.

School’s out for sums

Charities pick up the slack where schools fail to teach financial literacy

With no disrespect to Pythagoras, schools may want to try a different angle when it comes to teaching maths. Young at heart

How brands can make themselves relevant to the next generation

Labelling generations may not be a hard science, but every generation walks in a different world to its predecessor. What they said surprised, challenged and inspired us.

Sharing knowledge is power

Quietroom’s book recommendations

At Quietroom you’ll find a bunch of full-blooded geeks who love to share what they’ve gleaned from books, podcasts and any other source of information we can get our hands on. This week, we’ll be sharing material that’s had a big impact on us and our work. Look out for our recommendations on LinkedIn, starting with our senior writer Dom Ellis endorsing the Oxford Guide to Plain English by Martin Cutts.

All things being equal

How to make equalising Guaranteed Minimum Pension as easy as GMP

We’ve been working with a group of the largest defined benefit schemes and Shula PR and Policy to help make communicating GMPe easy peasy and a lot less queasy. To find out more, and to get a sneak peak of a new animation explaining GMPe that will be free for schemes to use, join us at Brightwell’s Office on 19 September 2023, 12pm to 2pm.
